RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner scored a hat-trick as his side trashed Mainz 8-0 to go third in the Bundesliga league table.
Marcel Sabitzer’s fifth-minute opener paved the way for Werner, Christopher Nkunku, Marcel Halstenberg and Yussuf Poulsen to make it 5-0 by half-time.
Werner added his second shortly after the interval, before Nordi Mukiele completed a relentless spell of six goals in 20 minutes of play.
Germany striker Werner completed his hat-trick with three minutes left.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side climb above Bayern Munich on goal difference, after the German champions were beaten 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund moved up to second with a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolfsburg.
It took until the 52nd minute for Thorgan Hazard to open the scoring, before Raphael Guerreiro and a late penalty from Mario Gotze wrapped up victory.
